How Long Does It Take to See Results?

Did you know it takes 4 to 6 weeks of a workout program before you start seeing results?

That’s why if you want to work on that “summer body” you’re always hearing about, you need to start now. After all, beach season is only a few weeks away.

We hope by featuring the types of classes we offer here at the Studio over the next few weeks, we can encourage you to get out of your desk chair and start focusing on your fitness - and not just for your summer body, but for your overall health.

One of the more popular workout styles you see popping up on your TikTok or Instagram feeds these days are HIIT workouts. HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training. We offer HIIT-style Shared Personal Training classes, so let’s talk about what HIIT means and how it's different from a “regular” workout.

What is High Intensity Interval Training?

High Intensity Interval Training, or HIIT, involves short bursts of intense exercise followed by low intensity recovery periods. HIIT workouts can be as short as ten minutes or as long as 45 minutes. In our Shared Personal Training HIIT classes, we use a 45 minute format of 8 to 10 different exercises!

Studies have shown intermittent (HIIT) exercise maximally works both aerobic and anaerobic systems, which can’t be said for moderate intensity programs! High intensity exercise takes a lot less time so it's a win-win – more benefit in less time!

The actual exercises in a HIIT class can be almost anything - we always incorporate all of the primal movement patterns with bodyweight or free weights, mixed in with cardio bursts of burpees or jumping jacks to name a few examples. The important thing is to have high intensity interspersed with low intensity or short rest periods.

Benefits of HIIT Workouts

- You burn a lot of calories in a short amount of time - about 30% more calories than the same amount of time spent running, biking, or weight training. This means you can burn more calories in less time with a HIIT workout.

- Once completing a high intensity workout like HIIT, you continue to burn calories for several hours after your workout because your metabolic rate is higher.

- Offers similar benefits to endurance training when it comes to improving your oxygen consumption.

You can join us for HIIT-style SPT on Mondays at 9:30am with Coach Wendy or Saturdays at 8:15am and 10:30am with Coach Julia.

Another version of our small group Shared Personal Training classes that is similar to HIIT is our Bags, Bells, and Blasts class. The SPT Class: Bags, Bells, and Blasts includes cardio intervals, which are effective tools for building functional strength and endurance. Working in a timed format, we intersperse strength exercises with cardio and core training blasts to burn even more calories.

You can join us for SPT: Bags, Bells and Blasts on Tuesday at 6:30pm with Coach David (lower body focus), Wednesday at 9:30am with Coach Wendy (lower body focus), Thursday at 6:30pm with Coach David (upper body focus) and Friday at 9:30am with Coach Luis (upper body focus).
