Be Like Water
Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend. ― Bruce Lee
Over recent years, interest in meditation has increased. Academics have written books, athletes have included it in their training regimens and psychologist have begun to recommend it to their patients. Regardless of its popularity though, we believe there is a strong case for adding it to our self-care practices.
The most researched form of meditation is mindfulness meditation and the intention is to cultivate the ability to see things as they actually are without the overlay of thought and emotion. It begins with taking the time to become still and observe the sensations that arise without being attached to them.
Here is a technique that is a combination of mindfulness meditation and quantum meditation. Try it on if you like. The first step is to become as still as possible and observe the breath until the mind becomes calm. See what thoughts, sensations, and emotions arise. The next step to use this stillness to visualize and actively create the ideal version of self. How would this self walk, talk, and be? Stand in the shoes of this self and imagine how it would feel to be this ideal self right now. How would you think? What would you say? What would you do? How would you be? Make the vision real. Breath life into it. See it as whole and complete. Remain in the stillness until you know you are this ideal self now.
In this way we practice and continue to build the neural pathways necessary to effect real change. When we are thinking, feeling and acting differently, we are choosing a different reality.
