Reboot Your Mind and Body - Priest’s Story

At Studio In The Heights, we have guided people through our Green Feasting Cleanse for over twelve and a half years, helping countless individuals transform their lives. Many have asked about the origins of this program, and it’s a story deeply rooted in personal experience and the quest for self-improvement.

Of course, Lisa and I have been doing cleanses together since the beginning of our relationship. As Holistic Lifestyle Coaches, we understand the importance of regular periods of detoxification. However, for more than 30 years, I have taken annual solo sojourns into the mountains, where I fast on water for seven to ten days at a time and reconnect with the cycles of nature.

These retreats have been my way to reboot the mind and body, shed old habits, and break free from outdated behavior patterns. However, my initial impetus for these solitary journeys was to find inspiration, motivation, and clarity.

Armed with only a tent, a sleeping bag, and my acoustic backpacker’s guitar, I would escape the noise of city life to find peace and creativity. These forays fueled my songwriting, but the songs and journals evolved into a novel over time. Even now, I continue this annual practice. What was once a daunting survivalist challenge has become a ritual that my soul craves.

While I can speak at length about the profound benefits of fasting, I don’t recommend anyone venture alone into the wilderness—that’s a profoundly personal journey of mine. However, if you’re curious about my experiences and adventures, you can explore them in my novel “Convergence.”

Although I’m currently seeking an agent to represent the book, the excerpts and short stories that have been published and many of the songs inspired by these experiences are available on my author’s site: RVPriestly.com.
