Staying Hydrated When It’s Hot
Summer is upon us! The temperatures are rising, we’re getting outside more, we’re going on vacations, and not following our usual routines.
All of these are great reasons to double check and make sure you are still drinking the recommended amount of water every day!
It’s no joke! Drinking water is SO important, especially when it's hot outside and we dehydrate before we realize it's happening.
You should be drinking half your bodyweight in ounces in water every day. For example, if you weigh 140 pounds, you should drink 70 ounces of water every day.
Here’s a few reasons why:
* Our bodies are 75% water and our brains are 85% water so we literally need enough water to maintain our brain health
* Drinking plenty of water lessens the burden on kidneys by flushing toxins
* Water carries important nutrients and oxygen to our cells
* Water acts as a lubricant on our joints helping them move freely and pain free
* Our bodies can mistake thirst for hunger, so drinking enough water can curb your appetite - this is especially important if you are trying to lose weight
So fill up your water bottles and hydrate! As soon as you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated so be sure to keep drinking throughout the day especially as the weather heats up.
