A Low Sugar Snack You Already Love!

You’ve heard it before but we’re going to say it anyway: An apple a day keeps the doctor away - and an apple will keep anyone away if you throw it hard enough…just kidding! 😉

But in all seriousness, apples really are a superfood - rich in fiber and antioxidants, good for your gut, good for your brain, the list goes on! Since October is National Apple Month, we want to share some of our favorite reasons to eat apples:

🍎 Apples are nutritious - they are packed with vitamins C, E, and K as well as antioxidants and fiber. Make sure you eat the skin - that ’s where you find most of the fiber that is so beneficial to your gut health.

🍎 Apples can help with weight loss. The fiber and high water content in apples helps you feel full, which means you will eat less.

🍎 Some studies show that the natural plant chemicals and fiber in the apple skin can help protect against blood vessel and heart damage. They can also help lower your cholesterol.

🍎 The antioxidants in apples help protect the cells in your pancreas, lowering your risk for type 2 diabetes.

Here’s the best part about eating apples: you don’t have to worry about the sugar content! Though they do contain carbs that affect blood sugar, these are not the bad carbs that strip away the fibers that are good for you.

Choose apples at the grocery store that are firm with few or no bruises, and make sure you wash them before you eat them. Enjoy your apples this month!
