Choose Gratitude

Energy in, energy out.
Garbage in, garbage out.
Shut your mouth, move your butt.

Clean up your consumption now. Your future self will thank you for it. Blah, blah, blah...

This time of year, we hear all the tips and tricks to make better choices at the snack and dinner tables. But what if I told you I wasn’t talking about food above…

I am talking about the people and tasks you spend time on during the holidays. Read those statements again. Do they sit differently?

In a typical holiday season, we spend so much time with our family and friends this time of year.

And with financial stress, Zoom fatigue, a drought, and politics, there can be that “Why bother?” mentality.

BOTH CAN BE TRUE. In the frustration, find gratitude.

It can feel like an obligation AND joy to be around them at the same time. But they’re your family and friends. Sit in gratitude for those weirdos! Even if just for a second.

Simple, not easy.

We often talk about who and what we say “yes” to in our day to day lives. People, tasks, “emergencies,” pets, teachers, workouts, sleep, daily hygiene. Do they all deserve a “yes”? Do they all deserve our undivided attention? Only you get to decide. The same holds true this time of year.

Wherever this year has taken you, come back to yourself, your breath, what you do have. The people who love you, the hobbies you hold dear, your safety, your health, the fact that you are reading this email. Find gratitude.

There are only four weeks left in 2024. 33 days. 792 hours. Take time to express gratitude. Every morning when you wake up or before you go to bed each night, write in your journal or say out loud five things you are grateful for.

You can choose to be grateful or you can choose to be stressed. No matter who or what crosses your path, choose peace. Choose gratitude.
